Description

The daintree pine is not actually a pine, but a member of the Casuarina family; it is a primitive relative of the many species of Casuarina found in Australia today.

It can grow to over 7m in height and forms a neat, conical shape.

Cultivation

Gymnostoma australianum grows in full sun and prefers well drained soil.

Etymology

gymno = naked, stoma = mouth

australianum = Australian
